Lejr Assistant

The in-app assistant turns plain-English requests into balanced entries. By default, every change waits for your approval on a card.

Lejr Assistant (Ask AI) turns plain-language requests into double-entry accounting. It can categorize a backlog, draft an invoice, post an accrual or explain a balance, using the same functions as the app.

It follows the same rules you do: entries must balance and posted entries can't be silently rewritten. By default, nothing reaches your books until you approve it.

Setting it up

  1. Describe the business

On the Profile tab, say what the business does, sells and buys. The assistant uses it to resolve ambiguity, such as whether rent is income or an expense.

  2. Write rules

On the Rules tab, add standing instructions, such as “fuel goes to Vehicle Expenses” or “flag any expense over $5,000”. Owners and admins set rules for the whole business; each member can add their own.

  3. Set permissions

On the Permissions tab, set each tool group (Sales, Purchases, Banking & transactions, Accounts & taxes and others) to Block, Ask or Allow. Block every group that writes and the assistant is read-only.

  4. Approve what it posts

By default every write is Ask: the assistant shows the exact entry (accounts, amounts, both sides) on an approval card and waits for you.

Permissions

Ask is the default for every group that changes your books. Allow runs a group's writes without a card, for routine work you don't need to check one by one. Block removes those tools.

Corrections & locks (voids, closing or reopening a year, the books lock) starts at Ask and can be allowed. Sensitive (disposing of or voiding a fixed asset) can't be set to Allow: those always ask.

Owners and admins can set limits for the business that cap what each member chooses. Every assistant action, with or without a card, is recorded in the activity log.

Scope

The assistant works in one business at a time, the one you're signed in to. It can't reach another organization's books.

Billing

The assistant is included in Plus and Pro. There's no credit balance and no per-request charge.

Use is subject to a fair-use limit of 1,500 requests a month per account. If you need more, connect Claude, ChatGPT or Grok in Settings → Account → AI connections; Lejr doesn't meter those.

Good to know

  • Every entry it writes must balance to the cent, the same as entries you, an import or an external AI write.
  • The app works fully without the assistant.

Common questions

Can the assistant change my books without me knowing?
Not by default: every write waits for your approval. If you set a group to Allow, its writes run without a card but are still logged, and disposing of or voiding a fixed asset always asks. Block every writing group to make it read-only.
What if it gets a category wrong?
Correct it as you would your own mistake. The correction posts as a new entry and the original stays on record.
