Migrating to Lejr

Bring your books from anywhere.

Most moves are self-serve. Upload your transactions as a CSV, or hand your existing accounting export to the assistant built into Lejr and ask it to bring everything over — chart of accounts, opening balances, historical entries. No mapping spreadsheets, no consultants required.

The recommended path

Migrate with the Lejr Assistant.

The assistant is built into the app — nothing to install, nothing to connect. Attach your export to the chat and talk it through. It works the way a junior accountant would, except faster and without billing you by the hour.

  • Read your existing accounting export — attach the file (CSV, spreadsheet, or PDF) right in the chat
  • Build your chart of accounts to match — and ask before changing anything
  • Post opening balances as a single dated journal entry
  • Import historical transactions in batches, categorized as it goes
  • Tie the result to your prior system's closing trial balance, dollar for dollar
Bulk CSV upload

Thousands of rows, no chat required.

If what you have is a plain transaction export, skip the conversation. In Transactions, choose Import from CSV and click your way through the mapping — which column is the date, the amount (one signed column, or separate money-in and money-out), the description, and which account it belongs to. You see a live preview of your own rows at every step, and you can drop any row before you commit.

Imported rows land in Review, where Lejr suggests a category for each one — the same queue your bank feed uses. Nothing touches your ledger until you approve it.

Bring your own Claude

The unmetered power path.

Lejr exposes its full accounting API over MCP, so you can point Claude — or any MCP-capable model — at your books and drive the whole migration from there. It reaches the same tools the in-app assistant uses.

MCP (bring-your-own-AI) is free and unmetered on any paid plan. The built-in assistant is unlimited on Plus and Pro — just ask it to bring your history over; there's nothing to meter or top up.

Why we don't cap your history

Bring everything. It's yours.

Five years, ten years, fifty thousand transactions — import all of it, on any tier including Free. Transactions are unlimited at Lejr and always have no per-row cost, so nothing about the size of your history changes what you pay. Switching accounting systems is hard enough without a tax for bringing your own data with you.

There's no cutoff date to work around and no volume meter running in the background. We charge for seats, businesses, feature breadth, and payments — never for the activity your business generates.

Direct sync with other accounting software is still on the roadmap. Until then the export path above covers the same ground — and arguably better, because the assistant can ask you about edge cases instead of silently making assumptions.

Need a hand?

Assisted Migration — by invitation.

For several businesses to stand up at once, a tangled chart of accounts, or years of unusually messy history that doesn't fit the self-serve path, we offer paid Assisted Migration on a limited basis. Quoted per project, starting in the low four figures. We take on a small number per quarter to keep quality high.

Interested? Email hello@lejr.app with a few sentences about your move — current system, number of entities, years of history, and any complications. We'll get back to you within a week if it's a fit.
